Creepy Crawlers and Wibbley Wobblers Unit
We run as seperate rooms but we are classed as a unit, sharing a milk kitchen, outdoor undercover area and changing facilities. Within the unit we aim to where ever possible follow your child’s individual routine. This will help make the transition from home to nursery easier for you and your child.
Creepy Crawlers Room (0-1 Years)
Within the room we have a large resource of fun stimulating sensory and heuristic resources. Heuristic play is important for this age group as it supports the way babies grow and develop in a very subtle way as its creative and exploratory and helps promote many skills such as freedom and independence, courage and concentration. We enjoy spending many hours on the floor playing and encouraging your babies’ development through play, going on walks or playing In our gardens. Play is important as it encourages your baby to use all of their senses.
We encourage all our babies to sleep in cots. The cots will be named and allocated for your baby on the session they are with us. Each baby has clean bed linen for each session.
We have a milk kitchen that we share with the Wibbley Wobbler room.
This is where we prepare and refrigerate babies’ feeds.
We are happy for feeds to either be prepared at home or milk powder can be provided and left at the nursery for the staff to prepare feeds. All tins of milk powder are named and dated before being stored.
Wibbley Wobblers Room (1-2 years)
We provide a secure base and rich and stimulating environment for your child’s learning to develop. Within the room we have lots of resources for stimulating, sensory and heuristic play. Heuristic play is important for this age group as it supports the way babies grow and develop in a very subtle way as its creative and exploratory and helps promote many skills such as freedom and independence, courage and concentration. We enjoy spending many hours on the floor playing and encouraging your child’s development through play, going on walks or playing in our gardens.
Our aim in the Wibbley Wobbler room is to provide an enriched, calm and stimulating retreat for your baby. We plan daily activities to fulfil all learning areas for all children to participate in, as well as the 1-to-1 activities planned for each individual child to work towards their next step targets. Play based learning within the room consists of adult initiated and child-led play, free flow play time is important as it encourages your child to use all of their senses.
We will support parents with any of their wishes regarding sleeping on a bed or in a cot, also any comforters your child needs, and bottle feeds. We discourage limiting sleep for your child; this is because we have recognised that when a child sleeps they are processing all their learning. Also it is a well known fact that SLEEP PROMOTES SLEEP…. meaning that limiting a child’s sleep period will not increase the amount of time they sleep through the night.
We have a milk kitchen that we share with the Creepy Crawler room,
This is where we prepare and dish up all food for the children throughout the day.
Within Wibbley’s we also have a covered outdoor play area attached to the room, this is set out with lots of different learning areas, such as problem solving, physical, (climbing frame and slide) and mark making. We promote free flow play as much as we can by having the garden area open throughout the day. We also have our own outside garden known as the (SecretGarden) with grass, decking and wooden balancing beams. Outdoor play is important as children can engage in various physical experiences; also outdoor play provides rich learning opportunities through play and playful teaching.
We also enjoy going out into the big garden up in the older rooms, we encourage the children to venture out in all weathers.
