Letterbox Day Nursery
Letterbox Day Nursery was a community project which opened in April 2008 and now has a well established reputation for providing exceptional care and education for children aged from birth to five years, to eight years in school holidays. Our team of highly qualified professionals build strong relationships with their key children to ensure their individual needs are met. The environment we provide is child centred, children are invited to assist with any decision making regarding any significant changes or purchasing or new resources.
We provide ourselves on our play based approach to children learning, by supporting children to take part in play and by providing a well resourced play environment both inside and outside. Care and education is based around each individual, with each child’s development being documented in their own learning journal as a keepsake of their achievement. The strong relationships that we build with parents, families and outside professionals ensure that we are all working together to support your child. As your child continues their journey throughout the nursery we gradually support them to become confident, independent learners, ready for the next stage of their education.
We are proud to say that Ofsted have placed us as a ‘Good’ setting. Please see our link on our website to our latest Ofsted Inspection which took place in March 2014.
What Letterbox will offer
Each child will have a learning journal which will travel with them as they move up to a new age appropriate room within the setting.
The learning journal is a keep sake book for yourself when your child leave nursery, but also where we document their observations, photographs and achievements following the 7 areas of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage).
• Personal, Social & Emotional Development
• Communication & Language
• Physical Development
• Understanding the World
• Expressive Art & Design
Each child will be given a Key Person as they progress through each room. The key person will work closely with the child and their family. The key person will plan for the child’s individual needs and document their achievements.
We also offer two parent’s evening a year to discuss your child’s progress and any concerns, although we also operate an open door policy where you are welcome to come in and talk to your child’s key person at any time.
A settling in session is a time where we get to know you and your child. In this time we will go through your child’s routine and fill out any relevant paperwork. These sessions will be arranged by the Room Leader before your child’s official start date.
We offer 3 settling in sessions which are free of charge, these are as follows:
1st Settling A two hour session with parent/carer
2nd Settling Another two hour session ideally without parent/carer
3rd Settling A three hour session without parent/carer
These times can be flexible to cater for you and your child’s needs should your child need more time to settle.
