Key Person

Each child and their family are welcomed on an individual basis and looked after by one special member of staff, referred to as a key person. Your child’s key person works closely with you to ensure your child's needs and interests are met whilst at nursery. We also have a Key Buddy system to ensure when your child's Key Person is away on annual leave you have someone else assigned to you to develop and record your child's learning and to see to their individual needs.Your child’s key person oversees their induction into nursery and helps your child to feel safe and secure, thus helping them to benefit from the rich opportunities and activities offered to them. This care and attention is continued and nurtured throughout your child’s time with us.Your child's current Key person will familiarise you and your child with their new key person as they develop and progress through the nursery, ensuring a smooth transition from one room to another. We work closely with surrounding primary schools to support children whenthetime comes to move onto big school.

Learning journals First Steps Parent Link

We produce an online learning journal for each child attending, this enables us to celebrate the individual achievements of every child. We work closely with you the parent to ensure that your child's progress is monitored and that we are planning for them on an individual basis. We take the parent partnership very seriously and encourage you as the parent to be heavily involved in your child's learning. The online software that we use encouarages you to upload observations and achievements that your child has been doing at home. We can then use them alongside The Development Matters as evidence to support your child's learning. FirstSteps Parent Link will enable the parent to engage in two-way communication with there child’s key person. Parents can also review and comment on all the information from FirstSteps Monitor and access their child’s learning journal, feeds, nappy changes, meals, sleep recording and Summative Report . Also optionally allowing the parent to view their account status, bookings etc.

Your child’s key person will work alongside you to maintain records of achievement. They will collect and collate information about your child’s needs, activities they have participated in, as well as documenting any achievements. This information enables the key person to identify your child’s next step target for progression. Through discussion and cooperation the parent and key person will then decide the best way to move your child forward.
